have to do as good second step. After Bush wins his second term I see Iran and Syria swiftly complying in 2005. All the Bush naysayers will continue to bash him, however, that will not change the amazing results.

Compare what Bush has done and the unreported disaster in Bosnia, overall not a bad job.

Whoa, what fvcking world do you live in? Do you understand the state of things in Afghanistan? How about Iraq? Do you honestly believe this occupation will end any differently than any Empirical colony in the Mid East, Africa, or SE Asia? I am curious… if the original 13 colonies had been complacent with the state of things; being taxed by the Brits and not being able to control their own commerce, would they be considered to have welcomed the Brits with open arms? Do you think that if your country were devastated and you were out of work, would you be complacent with having 1000’s of foreign workers in your country doing a job that you are more than qualified or capable of doing? Do you honestly believe it is in the average Iraqis best interest to have the largest consumer of oil in their country pulling the strings? What is it you believe is positive about this debacle?

Are you for fvcking real? You sound a lot like a fascist leader. The reason we don't take over Saudi Arabia is as follows: they currently have about $1,000,000,000,000 in our Stock Market. I will make this easier for you; that’s 1 Trillion dollars. Now; do you think if Iraq would own that much of the US, we would be there right now… atrocities or not? No, we wouldn't jackoff, for the same fvcking reason we aren't in Saudi Arabia.

Are you talking about "empirical" colonies like Germany, Japan, France, Belgium, Italy, Kuwait, and the host of other countries that the United States has liberated in the last 70 years? I'm sure the millions of Iraqis are hoping that this occupation will end the same way those occupations ended.

Nice knowledge of history there Poop.

Poop, I'll put it as simply as possible. When the US liberates a country, we try to get the hell out of there as quickly as possible. Ask France. Ask Germany. Ask Japan. Ask Kuwait. In a year or so you can ask Iraq.

Ok my man.

In a year or so, when Afghanistan is still the number one grower of Poppy's, the natural gas line is completed through their country and women still have achieved no rights that they lost under the Taliban, I will ask; "hey, how you guys doin, do you feel like in another 25 years, you too can be an industrialized nation?"

In a year or so, when Iraq still has 1000's of foreign workers on their soil and tens of thousands of Iraqi's unemployed, with less women's rights than under Sadaam and no secular government, I will ask; "hey, how you guys doin, do you feel like in another 25 years, you too can profit from your oil?"

Funny I recall France throwing us out around 1966, I spent a year in Germany (Fulda) in 1970 and we still have American troops there (same with Japan). About the Germans or at least what used to be West Germans. They hated us Americans being on their soil when I was there. Unfortunately the Fulda Gap was the most likely avenue of approach by Warsaw Pact forces in their march toward the Atlantic. World War III, as it was envisioned during the Cold War would be a test of Western technology versus the Soviet Union's numerical superiority. While technology would eventually win the war (we hoped), NATO planners concluded that nothing could blunt the initial Russian thrust. Thus, the Fulda scenario called for a fighting retreat to positions near the Rhine River. NATO would then use its superior knowledge of the terrain, its advanced weaponry and superior tactics to slow and thwart the Russian invaders, so we had to stay and defend Western Europe. Luckily nothing ever happened, I can remember seeing Soviet made tanks (T-34's??) across the border in East germany. Scary looking to say the least.

Wil.....that seems to be the standard conduct of the liberated country...."Thanks, now get the fvck out as soon as you can."

Liberating nations and nation rebuilding is a thankless pursuit, and extremely expensive hobby that is soon forgotten by the once oppressed.....the ones you help off the ground are among the first to stab you in the back...

Sometimes I think it would have been better to convince Hitler and cut a deal to leave America out of the war, and let Europe and parts of Russia learn how to speak German and goosestep in unison.

What Kuwaitis don't realize is that Saddam and his sons could be doing anal on thier wives and driving thier Rolls-Royces around Kuwait City right now, if not for American intervention.

Wil,

You know as well as anyone the US helps other countries and leaves. All the countries mention we could have taken over, they want us there because they benefit. It's sad you have become so naive to the facts. I'm disapointed in you because you seem like a decent guy.

Gameface, for one thing please don't mix politics with personal feelings about anyone. This is a forum kind of like a barber shop where talk is cheap and opinions varied. In real life I'm sure we would have much in common and if friends would watch each others back under any circumstances. In cyber space things are different as you probably know. The way France threw us out was criminal, we had a dozen or so bases in the 60's and were forced to close them down because of politics. A lot of French common workers were hurt by that btw. Anyway the Middle East is a whole new kettle of fish, being a completely different culture from both Europe and the US. No one will want to be stationed there for long. Troops count the days until they rotate home almost down to the minute.

Anyone remember the phrase 6 and a wake-up? That meant you had 6 days and a wake-up call before your time in country was up. Guys would start counting anywhere, some at 200 or so, I'm 204 and wake-up short. Newcomers were called jeeps.

Wilm,

True.

As history repeats it's self should we bail France out again?

I say no they are on their own this go around.

The bases in Germany and SK they wan't us there or I'd say we leave tomorrow.

It's sad that America is the only country able to do the heavy lifting.

IMO with the Soviets gone any Western Europe governament save the UK is on their own if they get in any kind of minor skirmish, unless they can't handle it then natrually Uncle Sam to the rescue. I don't see any nation openly challenging Nato these days. The real enemy has become the terorists, shadowy, and hard to corner. Even 3rd world invasions like Iraq/Kuwait are unlikely these days. The Stans are a problem which most likely will not become an American problem, Pakistan/India is scary as are the two Chinas and the two Koreas. Africa can be a mess much like the Stans, and none of our business other than for humanitarian purposes.
